Bridgend County is happy to host the Urdd Eisteddfod this year 2017 29th May – 4th June and our campsite is busy with visitors for the Urdd and the Whitsun school break.
The Eisteddfod will start with the excitement of the Opening Concert on 28 May at the Pavilion. Sian Lloyd will introduce Sophie Evans, Only Boys Aloud, Bro Taf Dancers, Steffan Rhys Hughes, Rhydian Jenkins, Bro Taf Department Choir, and others.
Within the 20 acre festival site, or ‘Maes’, you will find the competing pavilion, a funfair and around 80 stalls selling a diverse range of products – from jewellery and clothes to picnic tables and trailers.
There is also an activity field with a climbing wall, quad bikes, trampolines and various workshops as well as live bands performing in the food arena.
With the exciting Arts and Science pavilions and the Cwtch Cymraeg, which is a specific resource for Welsh learners, it’s a brilliant opportunity to spend a day with the family in a unique Welsh atmosphere learning and sharing in our Welsh culture. #FindYourEpic
The Youth Show is another performance to watch. On 27th and 29th of May at the Sony Theatre, the musical tells the story of forbidden love that inspired the famous folk song, ‘Watching the White Wheat’.
The Bridgend Tourism Association and Reach will bring you Bridgend Ambassadors and they will be able to tell you about Bridgend County how to explore the area and make your stay here a perfect Day experience. Look out for them they will be on the grounds in visi vests displaying the Logo with maps and knowledge.
